About The Project

I have been working, lately, with composites, combining two or more images to create a different impression. I like the physical element paired with the historic or imaginative, what already-is paired with something unexpected. It’s an access point into imagination and possibility. For these, I use a photograph that I’ve taken, a mixed media piece, or blocks of wood that I have painted and combine them with images from the Smithsonian Open Access Archives, drawing something that might otherwise be quieted into history and giving it a place in the contemporary conversation.
