the opposite of a hurricane is silence
delaney s. saul
she hums her prayers
forgetting my faithful hand
and the meat of our sisterhood
the horseshoe above her bed is gone,
now luck drips down the wall
and erodes her porcelain teeth
lips parted, she breathes through her mouth now
silenced, she banishes the memory
but the taste of the hurricane lingers
